Good news for everyone coming to WordCamp Belgrade and staying near the city center: you will not have to go far to find food, coffee, or something quick between sessions. Belgrade does not let a visitor stay hungry for long.
Step out into the city center and food starts appearing from every direction: a bakery window here, a doner stand there, a café table already occupied by someone who was clearly “just stopping for five minutes” an hour ago. As Dom omladine is located right in downtown Belgrade, close to Republic Square, Knez Mihailova Street and Obilićev venac, most places are just a short walk away.
For a proper sit-down meal, Obilićev venac is a good place to start. It has plenty of restaurants, cafés, and terraces for lunch, dinner, or when you just want to grab a bite between sessions. Meeting people after the conference day? Obilić, as natives call it, has all it takes for a proper work/leisure meeting.
A few steps away, Monument Ruski Car remains one of those Belgrade names people enjoy for eating and hanging out, without needing to explain too much. Located right where the city moves around it – at the very corner of Knez Mihailova and Obilićev venac, it makes it useful both for food and for watching Belgrade do what Belgrade does best: pass by loudly, confidently and slightly late.
Near the square, Boutique is another easy central option, especially if you want something familiar, comfortable, tasty and close to everything. It is the kind of place people choose when the group cannot agree on what it wants, which, in conference conditions, is more valuable than it sounds.
For seafood and a slightly different turn, Porto Maltese is also nearby, an easy 3-minute walk from The Trg (another local shortcut name – this time for the Republic Square) . Good for those moments when you want dinner to feel a little less rushed and a little more like you made an actual plan.
For all those slightly bohemian or in need of a good music paired with good local (and heavy!) food, instagramic scenery and, what feels like stepping back in history, Skadarlija is a place you must visit!
And then there is the unofficial Belgrade food network: bakeries, burek corners, pastry shops, sandwich counters, small fast-food stops and doner places, on what feels like every second corner. Many (if not all) will save your day when you’re you’re hungry and just want something tasty, fresh and instant.
Did someone mention – coffee? Downtown Belgrade is full of cafés and coffee shops, from local spots to familiar names like Coffee Dream and Kafeterija. So, whether you need emergency caffeine or somewhere to sit and pretend you are checking the schedule, the city center will not make you work too hard.
In short: stay around Republic Square, Obilićev venac and Knez Mihailova and you will be fine. And if you still haven’t purchased your WordCamp Belgrade 2026 ticket – now’s the time.
